TrueBoard

TrueBoard privacy

TrueBoard learns where your fingers land. For each key it stores how far from the painted center you tap, in key-widths and key-heights, and which key your finger touched. A tap just left of D can then register as D. That is the core of the app.

Those tap positions and per-key offsets are stored only on your devices. They are never uploaded to TrueBoard or anyone else. They are never collected from secure fields, or from email, URL, username, password, one-time-code, telephone, credit-card, or other fields that turn autocorrection off.

What stays on the device

The fit is a file in an App Group shared by the TrueBoard app and the TrueBoard keyboard on that iPhone or iPad. The Apple Watch keeps its own copy and can exchange the fit with the paired iPhone over Watch Connectivity. That copy never goes to a server.

For each letter the file holds:

The keyboard does not store a history of suggestion-bar words. It does store up to 200 spellings you explicitly chose to keep as typed (you undid a correction, or you tapped the word you had typed). Those spellings are the only word-level data in the fit.

A note you save on Apple Watch is stored on the watch and copied to the paired iPhone so you can read it or tap Copy. The keyboard does not read the clipboard. Copy runs only when you tap Copy.

Emoji you use recently are stored as a short list in the keyboard’s own folder on the device. They are not sent anywhere.

Settings (theme, key height, haptics, clicks, autocorrect, suggestions, and whether learning is on) stay in the same on-device folder.

What TrueBoard does not do

TrueBoard does not have an account, analytics, or advertising. The keyboard does not use the network. It does not read your photos or clipboard. Opening the privacy or support page happens in the browser only when you tap that link.

For suggestions, iOS supplies contact names and your Text Replacements to the keyboard. TrueBoard uses them only in memory on the device. They are never stored or sent.

Full Access is required for the keyboard to read and write the fit. Without it, typing still works, but the keyboard cannot use your calibration. Apple’s Full Access warning is broader than what TrueBoard does.
